THE BLUE ARABIAN HORSE CATALOG. JANE LLEWELLYN OTT. 1961. ILLUSTRATED with RARE PHOTOS. PEDIGREE, HISTORY OF ARABIANS THAT WERE CATALOGED IN THE BLUE ARABIAN CATALOG. BLUE THREE RING BINDER AS ISSUED. AMAZING AND RARE.
The Blue Arabian Catalog was the work of Jane Llewellyn Ott and her Mother. Their copious research brought them to the opinion that some of the Arabian Horses registered in the U.S. and elsewhere, were not pure blood Arabians. To that end, after years of research and breeding their own Arabians, they published the Blue Arabian Catalog which listed the Arabians that they classed ad Blue Star–purest of all and Blue List. The beginning text is Explanations-what the catalog is about and explainations of the work presented. Sections include: Sources of the Blue Arabian Stock; Missing Horses and Catalog Entries not in the A.H.C.R.
The Blue Catalog-begins with horse #1 and each entry has name, color, sex, year foaled, notes Blue Star or Blue List, breeder and country of breeder, Sire: Dam: number of registered get, and their Blue Catalog number, name, and sire or dam. There is a section of photos by breeder group–Randolph Huntington; The Hamidie Group; Davenport: Imported and 1st. generation; Egyptian and Egyptian Blunt; Egyptian and Crabbet-Egyptian; Blunt and Egyptian; Egyptian from various family lines; Egyptian-Blunt lines in Egypt; 20th. century Desert Bred Stock.

Sources of the Bloodlines of the “Top Ten” Stallions and Mares at the U.S. National Show for 1958-1961 showing percentage of Egyptian, Blunt, Davenport, Huntington etc bloodlines in the winners. Next is Suppliement for 1962. Some Errata: List of Blue mares who had foals by uncataloged stallions. More comments on Blue Mares; More on the AHCR. Unregistered Entries; Sub-List Skowronek; Bashful correspondents; More Q and A. Stallion Promotion; Blue Stallions.
This is a fascinating lot of reading material all housed in the original Blue covered 3 ring binder. This was done so the suppliments could easily be added. This already had 2 suppliments added. The binder is strong and in very good condition as are all the pages. While not numbered sequentially, there is at least 200 pages or so in this book. Here is an exceptionally rare find and is absolutely fascinating reading for anyone who loves and appreciated the history and heritage of the Arabian Horse-whether breeder or not. Don’t miss this prize.
