Gervase Markham (1568-1637) was an expert on the horse and credited to importing 'The Markham Arabian' perhaps the first Arabian stallion in England. This book covers training, the choice of a horse for different uses, care breeding and early dressage. The final section on haute ecole and his description of his riding demonstration before royalty.
