Mount and Man
A Key to Better Horsemanship
By
Lieut-Col M.F. McTaggert
Illustrated by
Lionel Edwards
This book is very interesting for anyone studying the evolution of equitation and seat position.
This was McTaggerts first and most important work. He was the first British author to adopt the forward seat when the battle over the forward seat was just starting to develop. Although definitely dated McTaggert represents a turning point in English literature on equitation and is worth reading particularly for those can identify errors and inconsistencies. Interesting commentaries on if ladies should ride astride. McTaggert exerted an important influence on contemporary thinking on equitation.
