Major John Board was an acknowledged horseman illustrator and author of multiple equestrian books. In this book he goes thoroughly into principles and practices, teamwork and tactics, horsemanship, polo ponies and stable management as well as a whole chapter on strokes and striking. He also gives a general theory of polo for the spectating enthusiast as well as a history of the game..
Well illustrated by the author, who was know as a painter of horses in action, a few black and white photos and also includes a number of two color diagrams to explain rules and tactics.
Hard cover book in wonderful condition, some age toning and rubs to the dust jacket but still in amazing condition overall. 228 pages. I didn't find a copyright date although the introduction is dated 1955. Title page states Countryman Press, Woodstock Vermont, although the spine of the book itself is stamped AS Barnes and back of title page states printed in Great Britain, not sure why.
